STEP 01

 

Culling

My process begins with sorting through all of your photos one by one. I select the best of each group of similar photos while rejecting photos that are redundant, blurry, or not overall flattering. I keep unique photos in my final selection but avoid an over crowded, repetitive gallery. We overshoot to make sure that every moment is captured. It is part of my job to sort through that and deliver to you a curated gallery that is manageable.

STEP 02

 

Editing

From those photos selected, I bring them into my editing program (Adobe Lightroom), where the creative process begins. This is by far the longest and most intensive part of the process. Your photos will go through basic edits to color, exposure, tone, and cropping. I will go back and forth between my photos and my second shooter’s photos to ensure the colors and tone match between all cameras and lenses. From there, photos will be edited individually to bring out the intended look. I always shoot in RAW, so the photos will appear flat and dull right out of camera, but this gives me the most data to play with when editing and I can really bring the photo to life!


STEP 03

 

Final Selection & Organization

This is partially done in step two while edited, but I will continue to refine your final images in this step. If you have a second photographer, I will go through our photos together to make sure everything lines up chronologically. Some photos may need to be moved manually to best tell the story of your day. This pass through I will be looking at everything as a whole to make sure things look good and are cohesive before the export.

STEP 04

 

Exporting & Uploading

Once your photography gallery is looking perfect, I will rename the photos to help  you keep things organized, and the export can begin. I mentioned before that I shoot in RAW for editing purposes, but outside of my editing program, RAW files aren’t very useful. Your final photos will be exported as full resolution JPGs. This means that you will have your final photos with all of the edits in the highest quality for viewing or printing big! Once exported, I will upload your photos to your online gallery and they will be on their way to you (after one last pass through).


Now that your photos are delivered and the editing process is complete, I will do my final backup of your photos will all of the edits onto 2 separate hard drives. Now they are all safe on my end!
