Megan & Jack’s Backyard Summer Wedding | Norwalk, Connecticut

Getting Ready in Their Beautiful Home
Megan and Jack chose to cerebrate their wedding at Megan's parent's house in Norwalk, Connecticut. It was so fun to unitize their beautiful and unique home as a backdrop of the photos throughout the day. We started with getting ready photos at the house, and the natural window light allowed each space to become a perfect photo location. A lot of times when shooting in a hotel room or darker space, we need to make adjustments towards a singular window or bring in additional lighting for these photos to really look good. Being able to utilize so many spaces with this natural light made shooting here a joy!
Megan had prepared some unique items to incorporate into here flat lay photos, which give us a lot to work with creating different layouts. I encourage couples to provide their own items for these details photos as it can give you an opportunity to showcase your own style. The bride and groom chose to write each other letters to read the morning of the wedding, and since they did not have a first look, it was a great way for them to connect with each other before the ceremony. Megan's mom helped her into her wedding dress and she had a dress reveal with her bridesmaids before heading into the ceremony.
The Backyard Ceremony
Megan and Jack's ceremony was held in their scenic Norwalk backyard with the couple in the center and their guests circled around them. It was a unique layout that felt extremely intimate and close with the couple literally surrounded by family and friends. Megan's brother officiated the ceremony which brought even more of a personal element. It was a really lovely ceremony and I love that they absolutely made it their own.
Newlywed Portraits, the Reception, and Golden Hour Photography
Following the ceremony, we spend some time capture a variety of portraits of the newly married couple. Starting with the bridal party and family allowed us to get them all to cocktail hour quickly while we focused on some couple's photos. It was a beautiful sunny day in June so outdoor photos were bright and full of greenery. We made sure to take advantage of that scenery and then moved inside for a few extra photos on the staircase and in the library. Their reception kicked off with some toasts to the couple as well as some special dances.
After dinner, we headed out one more time for some quick golden hour photos. The perfect weather continued and we captured some soft and romantic portraits of the couple as the sun was going down. They were feeling adventurous so we even climbed onto the rocks were they had a small waterfall as the backdrop for something a little different.
The reception continued after that with the couple's cake cutting and lots of dancing into the night. They ended the night with a super fun sparkler send-off which gave us the perfect end to a beautiful day!
