Taras & Mariah's Gillette Castle Engagement Shoot in East Haddam, CT

 

Snowy Gillette Castle engagement shoot

Snowy winter engagement photo session in a wooded area with warm golden sunlight filtering through bare trees.

Mariah and Taras took their engagement photos at Gillette Castle in East Haddam, Connecticut. Just a few days after a winter storm, there were very few people and it felt private and quite for their session. The snow covering the ground made for especially soft lighting and Mariah's red dress really popped by comparison. The stone architecture of the castle had some gorgeous textures when up close. Stepping back along the path we were able to capture the entire castle behind the couple.


After braving the cold for a little while, Mariah and Taras opted for a cozier option for the second half of the shoot. They wore matching knit sweaters gifted to them by Taras' uncle giving them a completely different look to the next set of photos. We took a short walk down to the bridge and pond near the castle, giving us a chance to chat about home renovations and wedding plans. The sun was getting low in the sky by this point, giving us some beautiful glowy light behind the trees. We capture some fun candid shots of the couple walking along one of the bridges through the snow (no small feat) before wrapping up the shoot.


I had a blast capturing Taras and Mariah's engagement photos and I can't wait for their wedding!
